Arts & Crafts Custom Split Rambler

Structure: Front-to-Back, 4-Level Split

Year Built: 2000

Situation: Corner lot in family-oriented development of Elk River.

Objective: Build-to-suit an affordable home, with modest square footage (~3200 sqft finished), yet with many material upgrades for lasting style.

Solution: A front-to-back 4-level split met the required main level/entry elevation, as well as, accommodated the rear full-walkout. The main-level Entry, Back Entry, Formal Dining, Kitchen, and Dinette (including partially covered deck), all come together with amber stained, solid, maple floors; maple trim, cherry cabinets with solid birch, dovetailed drawers and pullout trays, vaulted ceilings and ample windows for natural light and aesthetics. The upper level incorporates a semi-formal Living Room with vault and 12' high cultured stone fireplace; a bedroom and full bath that double as the powder room; and a full Master Suite including walk-in Closet, whirlpool tub, tile floor, tub deck and shower, and 'his' and 'her' vanity. The walkout level has a generous Family Room complete with fireplace and cherry entertainment center and bar, as well as, 9' of atrium style windows and door out to the paver patio. There are also two more bedrooms and a full bath, with heated tile floor, on this level...all with 9' ceilings. Just when you think that is all, there is another level down (below the Kitchen and Dining areas) that has a full Laundry and a 12' x 20' Studio with large 'lookout' windows.

Outcome: A plan that just seems to keep on going. This design makes unbelievable efficiency of all the space available. The openness of the plan makes it unique and great for entertaining, as well as, for private life. Materials used include cherry cabinets throughout, maple floors and trim, solid 6-panel doors, cultured stone inside and out, tile baths, premium carpet, upgraded appliances, completely sheetrocked 3-stall garage, concrete driveway, sprinkler system and fully landscaped yard.
