Second-Story Master Suite Addition

Structure: Side-to-Side, 4-Level Split

Originally Built: 1987

Situation: The Master Bedroom had little privacy from main-level living areas, and all three bedrooms were modest in size. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, occupied by a daughter and a son, shared a bath with one vanity. The exterior was having water intrusion issues, and the maintenance necessary for the T&G cedar siding was exhausting and costly.

Objective: Re-design upper level, add new Master Suite, Update the exterior.

Solution: The upper level has been expanded by ~550 square feet. A new 14' x 20' Master Bedroom projects out over the double garage, and an ample walk-in closet and new 3rd Bedroom occupy the 12’ x 22’ addition over the 3rd stall garage. The former Master Suite has been modified into the new 2nd Bedroom Suite, while the shared Bathroom has now been attached to the new 3rd Bedroom, making it a ‘Suite’ as well. The space formerly the 2nd Bedroom has been converted to an ample new Master Bath including a Jacuzzi style tub, double vanity, and walk-in style shower. The exterior has received a completely new look derived from the overall proportions of the layout within. The ‘1980s-esque angular exterior has been neatly converted into a gabled roofline with ‘tuck under’ garage, complete with new concrete walk and driveway.

Outcome: Spacious Master Suite with walk-in closet, and two Bedrooms with private baths.
